Inextricably United

a small opening to blue sky in a rough sandstone wall — A landscape image fully contains the textures of a sandy stone wall; the left side of the wall holds dark shadows accenting jagged edges. The rest of the photo is immersed in sunlight and reveals bumps on the wall’s surface that are boxy and knobby yet suggest the hint of a heart shape slightly to the right of the photo’s center. A small, imperfect diagonal opening into blue sky lies between the shadow and light.

This photo is particularly meaningful to me, because I took it while exploring Israel. The poignancy of the shadows juxtaposed so closely to the light caught my interest and imagination.
