“Hopening” was taken on a random afternoon soon after I had cataracts removed and my visual acuity improved significantly. For a handful of years prior to those surgeries, photography was more frustrating than fun, so I hit the pause button. Many poems were written during that time. “Hopening” reflects the moment photography became fun again. I was simply taking a walk when the light and the clouds caught my attention. I took many photos without really seeing the details. Only later when I downloaded them, did I fall in love with this one.
