The Do You See What I See? Online show can be viewed with or without images. This first main choice is determined by clicking on the appropriate button.
Whether you choose to hide or show images, you can change your mind at any point from any gallery page. If you hide images by default, you can also opt to show that page’s image individually when you are ready, by using the buttons at the top of each page.
The photographs are numbered 1-20 so you can navigate the sequence of photos with either forward and back commands or number keystrokes.
Each title has an accompanying full verbal description and a poem that complement the photograph. A brief verbal description is available through the image’s alt text. Recordings of the full verbal descriptions are available as well so that you can listen to a human voice as an alternative option. Headings, buttons, and links for these options are consistent from page to page.
Additionally, you can download a PDF with the show overview and history, a table of contents, and all of the full verbal descriptions in one place.
The intent behind offering diverse choices to explore each image is rooted in my appreciation for difference and detail. I “see” with varying degrees of clarity. Consequently, the richness of description for seemingly small details can be precious and meaningful. Words (or no words) have an impact on my experience of “seeing”. As such, “seeing” has become a fluid practice depending on what is in my overall perceptual awareness. A single image has infinite ways to be seen and understood that relate more to the “see-ers” in the moment than to the image itself.
